The argument about WWE's decision to make Hell In A Cell a standalone Pay-Per-View has been back and forth for years, ever since the promotion debuted the new concept in 2009. By featuring more than one of the cell matches on a single show, it seemed that the idea was being diluted a little too much. Nowadays, fans know exactly when Hell In A Cell encounters are going to take place, on the October supershow. That's not exactly spontaneous, and almost shoe horns feuds into the match type, one which was previously used exclusively to finish off massive feuds. There was something more exciting about Cactus Jack challenging Triple H suddenly to a cell match at No Way Out 2000. Imagine the Hell In A Cell PPV had existed back then, fans would have missed out on a truly memorable occasion, all because it didn't fit in with the Pay-Per-View calendar. That's not really a thrilling enough way to run things, there needs to be more of a surprise feel to the cell announcement.
