10 World Champions WWE Never Believed In

8. Eddie Guerrero

Eddie Guerrero found himself in the same boat as Chris Benoit leading up to WrestleMania 20. He didn't win the Royal Rumble match, but while Benoit was challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw, Guerrero was busy battling for the WWE Championship on SmackDown. He finally won "the big one" from Brock Lesnar at No Way Out 2004 in an emotional moment widely considered to be one of the greatest of all-time. He went on to successfully defend the gold against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania, but for as popular as he was, he didn't think he could handle the pressure of being world champion. Chavo Guerrero discussed the dilemma in detail on 'Talk is Jericho' in mid-November, but he mentioned how Eddie didn't consider himself a viable world title holder, which may have cut his reign short by a few months. As the old cliche goes, no one will believe in you if you don't believe in yourself, as that was what happened with Latino Heat. He slipped down the ladder a bit after his loss of the WWE title in June 2004, but he was close to regaining the gold in late 2005 prior to his unfortunate death. Whether he was pegged to win it back around that time is unknown, but had he remained with the company for a few more years, odds are he would have been given another run as champ because he had come a long way from when he initially captured it.
