10 World Class Athletes Who Would Have Been Huge WWE Stars
4. Mike Tyson
Of all the name mentioned, Mike Tyson had a proven track record within pro wrestling. Upon his WWF debut in 1998, Tyson helped turn the tides of the Monday Night Wars, a battle in which the WWF would emerge victorious. Quite possibly the hottest angle of all time, Mike Tyson's WWF appearance during his boxing suspension made headline news, appearing all over mainstream television, websites, and newspapers. The WWE, always hoping to gain that type of exposure, utilized Tyson as prominently and often as possible. In all likelihood, if Mike Tyson vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin was put on WWE pay-per-view, the company could have smashed box office records. Few athletes in sports history have intimidated opponents in the manner in which Tyson was able to do, and his reputation as a giant draw carried over into wrestling. Tyson also made a less publicized appearance as a host of Raw over a decade later. Had Mike Tyson chosen to give up boxing in favor of pro wrestling at that point, he would have likely had a much longer and financially viable career, as his boxing days came to a close not long after.
