Part of acting is learning how to show different emotions. You have to be able to show how you feel either by your physical actions or by using facial expressions. When it comes to Rob Van Dam, he has always been somebody that seems to look the same all the time. RVD has worked mostly as a babyface in his career. There were brief heel runs, but for the most part he has been a good guy. Part of the reason is because he's just not gifted enough as an actor to pull it off. Is he a great athlete? Sure. He's got plenty of great matches under his belt too. It's just that he doesn't have that extra element to become a deeper character. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aua1iN7i6L8 His character isn't that complex or complicated. He's always been the guy that he is - that stoner that smiles all the time and doesn't seem to be aware of things around him. Everything is laid back with him. It's all cool. That's why he's popular with a lot of wrestling fans because there are a lot of stoners that watch wrestling. It's also why, even though he has been popular, he's never really had a character change in nearly 20 years of being in the wrestling spotlight. He's still the same guy. It's as if he knows all he should do is the thumb pointing, so that's what he does. At least he's smart enough to realize it.
