10 Worst-Booked WWE/World Champions Of All Time

9. Sheamus

To be perfectly fair to Sheamus (and WWE's creative team), The Celtic Warrior's run as World Heavyweight Champion in 2012 was extremely well booked. He won the Royal Rumble for a title shot at Daniel Bryan, defeated Bryan in 18 seconds to capture the belt, and made successful defenses against Bryan, Alberto Del Rio, and Dolph Ziggler. During that time, he was positioned as a world-beating babyface, and he rarely ever dropped falls.

A few years earlier, though, a not-yet-developed Sheamus was pushed to the WWE title in remarkably quick fashion -- he debuted on Raw in October of 2009, and within two months, he had captured the belt from John Cena (in a tables match -- WWE wasn't ready to have Sheamus pin Cena, though they were ready to put the title on him). Having an unproven newcomer holding the company's premier championship was a confusing move that made the belt seem worthless.

Sheamus beat Randy Orton by DQ at the Royal Rumble, but lost the title in the Elimination Chamber match, being eliminated before the final fall. He won the title back at the forgettable Fatal 4 Way Pay-Per-View in June of 2010, and entered into another feud with Orton.

"The Viper" beat Sheamus by DQ at SummerSlam, then captured the title from him at Night of Champions.
