10 Worst Case Scenarios For Wrestling In 2019

7. The Universal Title Stays In The Shadows

While concern over the man's health obviously takes precedence over everything else, Roman Reigns' leukaemia returning put WWE in a tough spot creatively. 'The Big Dog's' Universal Championship had to go to someone. The trouble was that there wasn't an ideal candidate, with Braun Strowman diminished and Seth Rollins occupied else, so, as a result, they went back to the guy they trust most to headline their flagship show: Brock Lesnar.

WWE took what they felt was the safest option. In a way, they're right. Brock is one of only a handful of WWE Superstars capable of drawing money on his own, and a real spectacle athlete at his best. The problem is that his best only ever comes around once in a blue moon, and while he does have credibility, his last reign as an absentee champion destroyed interest in what's supposed to be the company's top prize.

After a soul-crushing 2018, it's vital that the Universal Title comes back to the forefront in 2019. Rollins, Strowman, Drew McIntyre: whoever it is, the next guy up must be on television every week, and must defend the strap more than once every couple of months. Otherwise, WWE might as well melt it down and turn it into shiny red shoes.
