10 Worst Fashion Mistakes By Vince McMahon

7. The Prime Time Tracksuits

The formula of the WWF flagship show, Prime Time Wrestling, had been the same for almost five years. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan did their comedy schtick in a studio in between matches and interview segments. In early 1991, Vince McMahon decided fans could get their fix of Gorilla and Bobby on Wrestling Challenge but he wanted to shake up the format of his Monday night Prime Time show to ensure the ratings stayed up. His idea was to have Heenan and himself hosting in front of a studio audience with WWF stars appearing as guests each week. In 1991, Vince was well into his bodybuilding fascination and had already set up the World Bodybuilding Federation. He wanted to look like the men he no doubt spent countless hours looking at in the muscle mags, so he decided to start wearing a tracksuit similar to what was fashionable in the bodybuilding world at the time on live TV every Monday night. Only his were a lot more abrasive on the eyes. So Vince McMahon decided that the best way to overhaul the format of his biggest TV show was to put himself, the 45 year old owner of the company, out there in a tracksuit to host the show. It was a baffling decision, although I'm sure it made all the sense in the world to him. Fans look back fondly on Prime Time Wrestling (as they should), but just look at the state of that tracksuit. Jesus.
