10 Worst Feuds Of CM Punk's WWE Career

3. Leader Of The Nexus Feud Vs. John Cena

The CM Punk DVD documentary that WWE released a few years ago was very insightful because we got to hear Punk openly complaining about certain things that happened in his career. One of those things was that WWE chose to put The Miz in the WrestleMania XXVII main event against John Cena instead of the super-over Punk. In Punk's (and most other) eyes, he was better than The Miz and deserved it more so it bothered him quite a bit. If you look at their careers, they started at around the same time with Punk having a lot more memorable matches and feuds. Miz will end up having a longer career in WWE, but that doesn't mean it's better or that fans would think that Miz is the better performer of the two, because clearly he's not. Punk ended up being Cena's pre-WrestleMania TV feud, meaning that he had to put Cena over prior to his WrestleMania 27 feud with The Miz (that also involved The Rock). That meant that Punk also became the leader of The New Nexus stable, which failed miserably and you could tell that Punk wasn't too happy about that either. It feels so long ago where Punk was leading a group where Mason Ryan was going to be a big star and Bray Wyatt was a young guy known as Husky Harris. When Punk did that breakout pipe bomb promo of his in June 2011 in Las Vegas on Raw, where he sat on the stage and vented his frustrations, he was still actually part of The Nexus. Then for his Money in the Bank match with Cena, it said he was still a part of The Nexus. The whole storyline ended without any real closure to it too. Things ended up fine for Punk in the summer of 2011, but those first few months of the year were incredibly frustrating for him because there really was no direction and it led to him legitimately nearly quitting WWE in 2011.
