10 Worst Ideas That Actual WRESTLERS Came Up With

3. Paul Heyman Works Out Mark Henry...Or Does He?

This isn't a terrible idea...on paper.

There's some logic to it. The idea is to go back to basics and maximise the value of a performer who WWE really only got right for about 18 months. The thing is, it's very Paul Heyman.

Paul Heyman's modern booking philosophy is simple but effective, provided the star power can elevate it. He likes to do the same thing over and over and over (and over and over and over) again to reinforce its effectiveness. A Brock Lesnsar German suplex is the most powerful weapon in wrestling. Roman Reigns always wins LOL, even if WWE could have "finished the story" three times over at this point. It's easier to finish Infinite Jest in one sitting than it is for WWE to book a babyface World title run.

Heyman's formula can grow tiresome - the Brock Lesnar finisher spam match died at WrestleMania 38, and this Roman Reigns push is entering nWo 1999 levels of diminished returns - and his big idea to get Mark Henry over was the Chris Masters story. Speaking to SomethingAwful (h/t 411Mania), Heyman in 2016 said he could make the headlock the most exciting move in wrestling by having Mark Henry apply it for 32 consecutive weeks before somebody broke it.

The idea makes sense, yes, but Brock Lesnar Vs. CM Punk from SummerSlam 2013 was better than anything Lesnar has done since.
