10 Worst Things Vince McMahon Has Ever Done

5. "Two Words"

Zero remorse.

Those aren't actually the words Vince used to describe the reasoning behind the rehabilitation initiative of the 2000s, but that's what he shows. He in fact said "Two words: public relations" to describe why his organisation extends the offer. It was a careful choice - anything to the contrary might suggest personal culpability, which isn't likely to do him in any favours in a theoretical courtroom - but the callousness in those words, spoken to Oversight and Government Reform Committee investigators, paints a sobering portrait of the man. He did it for the optics, to absolve himself of responsibility. It sounds like a f*cking them problem, in short.

Vince doesn't care about the people who destroyed their bodies to draw him a house. He cares only about WWE looking good in the public eye for the benefit of the share price. There are counters to this editorial comment. Vince paid for Bam Bam Bigelow's funeral years after the legendary big man was any use to him, as an example. But his statement hardly portrays him in a remotely empathetic light.

Of course, even if Vince hadn't outright said the quiet part loud, repeated examples of the double standard expose the illusion of benevolence.

Look at the differing ways in which Jimmy Uso's and Jeff Hardy's infractions were dealt with in 2021 for grim proof of that.
