10 Worst TNA Gimmick Wrestling Matches
4. Cuffed In The Cage Match
How does it work?
Six tag teams face off in a six-sided steel cage, in which they must handcuff all of their opponents to the cage in order to be declared victorious. Upon both members of a team being handcuffed to the cage, that team will be eliminated from the match.
Why is it awful?
You can imagine the board meeting behind this one: “We’ve already made the cage bigger, smaller, electric, and a dome, so how can we keep innovating on an already perfected match stipulation?”
Handcuffs was the answer, apparently. This match was a total snooze-fest, because the gimmick at play served only to ground the wrestlers within the cage, and led to an awful lot of corner hugging and stalling for time. That stalling led to a run in from Super Eric, who climbed to the top of the cage and jumped off it - but it was too little, too late. When your objective is to fasten your opponent to a wall, it doesn’t really allow for interesting spots or dramatic moments.
