10 Worst World Champions In WWE History

9. Diesel

The Great Khali World Title

One of the top wrestling stars of the 1990s, Diesel boasted a WWF Championship reign that lasted for nearly a year and saw him take on a host of challengers. Unfortunately, his twelve months with the title marked the lowest point for business in WWE history.

Diesel was put over about as strongly as possible - three days after Bob Backlund wrested the title from Bret Hart after a brutal feud, Diesel squashed the transitional champion for the belt in Madison Square Garden. It was clear that the seven-foot-tall star was everything that Vince McMahon wanted in a company centerpiece - but fans would have preferred Hart or Shawn Michaels.

During Diesel's reign, he didn't headline WrestleMania, nor did he have too many memorable matches. PPV buyrates and live event ticket sales went way down. Everybody felt it.

Reportedly, Diesel once asked Gerald Brisco why he was the lowest-paid WWE Champion of all time, and Brisco simply replied "Because you're the lowest-drawing WWE Champion of all time."
