Much like the aforementioned Lawrence Taylor, actor Tom "Tiny" Lister was a non-wrestler being used for cross-over value into the mainstream media.

However, and this is a big however, unlike Taylor, Lister wasn't an ex-football player or an athlete outside of college shot put, and he didn't even portray himself in the ring.

No. The WWF sold Lister to the audience as a real life incarnation of a fictional movie character, which just makes a whole lot of no sense.

He wrestled as Zeus, his character in the movie No Holds Barred which also featured Hulk Hogan and was produced by the WWF.

So naturally, they had a real actor play a fictional character as a wrestler to feud against Hogan, who he battles against in the movie, as a real life feud... that was not, but also was.

It's a lot to figure out if you don't want to just play ignorance and let the whole conundrum blow over your head.

Regardless of the nonsensical logic, Zeus headlined two pay-per-views in 1989 in tag matches alongside Randy Savage against Hogan and Brutus Beefcake.

Obviously the other three carried his load for the most part and he did the usual big man shtick to try and convince the crowd he was a threat without having to do much wrestling, but the whole scenario was just a weird, shameless plug to promote the C-grade movie.
