10 Worst WWE Gimmick Ideas You Won't Believe Almost Happened

8. Mighty Mouse

Vince McMahon loves Mighty Mouse. How do we know this?

Because the WWE Chairman has attempted to bring the character to life within his company on a couple of different occasions. The first came in 1995, with Chris Candido the proposed recipient, but while being spared of this daft idea might sound like a big relief, he was thrown into the awful Bodydonnas tag team instead.

The idea resurfaced when former NXT Champion Neville was set to debut on the main roster 20 years later. The current 'King Of The Cruiserweights' was deemed perfect for the "small but mighty" character, and while McMahon probably didn't intend on having the Geordie dress like an actual mouse, he'd at least have Neville share several traits with the cartoon superhero.

Again, the gimmick never materialised. Neville eventually turned up in a cape, but that was the extent of it, and he never really played up to the character, adopting a bland (but safe) babyface persona instead. It wasn't until late 2016 that he finally found his voice with a highly successful heel turn, but he probably wouldn't have been around to receive this opportunity had he debuted as a midget superhero.
