10 Worst WWE Gimmick Ideas You Won't Believe Almost Happened

3. The Incestuous Burchills

Lord knows why, but WWE have toyed with the idea of running an incest storyline plenty of times in the past. The most disturbing pitch came in 2006, when Vince McMahon supposedly suggested that he be unveiled as the father of his daughter Stephanie's first child. Steph rightly shot the angle down.

Vince's enthusiasm for the idea was unhindered, however, and a similar story almost came to pass in 2008. Englishman Paul Burchill had lost his way after abandoning his short-lived pirate gimmick, so his kayfabe sister, Katie Lea, was brought in to help bolster his act while becoming a viable Women's division star on her own. They weren't a huge success, but surely would've fared a lot worse had Vince had his way.

The original plan supposedly involved revealing that the Burchills were in an incestuous relationship shortly after Katie Lea's debut, with Paul spouting the creepy catchphrase "whatever Katie wants, Katie gets." WWE fortunately switched their television to a PG rating later that year, however, and the idea was thrown in the trash.

Say what you will about the company's move towards a more family friendly style, but at least it spared us this nonsense.
