3MB was a decent enough concept in hindsight. You take three guys who were going absolutely nowhere (Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre) and put them together hoping that the whole would be greater than the sum of its parts. Surprisingly, the gimmick had legs, and lasted for longer than a year and a half. Granted, the group never went anywhere, but they were still part of the show and served their purpose on the lower card. The highlight was them discussing how the three of them gave each other a 10% chance of a 3MB member winning the 30-man Royal Rumble. But the death knell came in 2014 when WWE creative added a fourth member (wellhalf a member?) in Hornswoggle. 3MB became embroiled in a lower-card feud with Los Matadores for what seemed like ages, and to counteract the unmistakable power of the little bull El Torito, they enlisted the services of Hornswoggle. This ended up in way too many six-man tags, a Wee-LC match and a mask vs. hair match. The announcers laughed it up (probably because they were told to), but for the most part, those matches were excruciating. Finally, WWE gave up in June and released Mahal and McIntyre, effectively ending the short-lived 3 (and ½) MB.
