10 Worst WWE Gimmicks Of 2018

8. Kona Reeves: The Finest

Every NXT wrestler is a work-in-progress. We accept their flaws, shortcomings, and rough edges, because that's what WWE's black-and-gold brand is for. Developmental is still developmental. It's a school, these performers are here to learn, and the Performance Center's track record has earned the trainers and writers the trust to turn things around.

This makes Kona Reeves' situation understandable, and there's every chance WWE will find a way to fix this malfunctioning performer. What it doesn't do, however, is make the goober any easier to watch.

Reeves' first few repackaging vignettes looked like a joke. His reinvention as 'The Finest' were entirely unconvincing, with Kona farting out generic cocky heel promos punctuated by a cheesy grin that screamed 'playground botherer.' More worrying was the usually razor-sharp NXT writing team's apparent belief that this could be a pushable act. Reeves even got to squash a jobber or two upon returning, and it looked very much like he was about to become A Thing on NXT TV, though it didn't last. Miscast in a role that didn't suit him, Reeves was relegated to jobbing duties himself the moment creative realised 'The Finest' wasn't going to work.
