10 Worst WWE Origin Stories

9. Hirohito

Admittedly the chronology of Hirohito's origin story isn't entirely clear. It could be that he took up wrestling in order to beat up Americans, or it could just be that he was already a professional wrestler and, incidentally, developed a hatred for all things USA.

Whatever the case, this was still extremely stupid. Hirohito was introduced to fans in 2004 via a Monday Night Raw vignette overlaid with footage of Hiroshima and Nagasaki being bombed during the Second World War.

Named after a former Japanese emperor, the concept here was presumably that he was so enraged by the actions of the US government sixty years earlier that he was coming to exact a very minor form of revenge inside the WWE ring.

However, in the end, he never actually stepped foot in it. The company got cold feet on the gimmick after the aforementioned Raw teaser and the man slated to play Hirohito was repackaged as Kenzo Suzuki (whose character was marginally less offensive).
