10 Worst WWE Origin Stories

7. Mordecai

Before Kevin Fertig was the very forgettable Kevin Thorn on ECW, he was the almost-as-forgettable Mordecai on SmackDown, appearing for a couple of months in mid-2004 before being sent back to developmental.

His origin story on the first-go round was that of a religious zealot who had come to WWE (or possibly - we don't know - been sent there by God himself) to punish any sinners who crossed his path. Bad news for Vince McMahon then.

Since he was inordinately tall and competed in an all-white full body-suit, most of us assumed that he would at some point clash with The Undertaker. God's Right-Hand Man against The Demon of Death Valley; it sort of had a ring to it.

But it was also very difficult to take seriously. Mordecai's get-up was completely ridiculous, and it all seemed horribly out of place in Ruthless Aggression Era WWE, which hadn't really dabbled in this sort of thing since the days of the Corporate Ministry.
