10 Worst WWE Royal Rumble Moments Ever

10. The Chyna Injury Angle - 2001

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xy5kz1_chyna-v-ivory_sport Injury angles are nothing new in the wrestling business. When done right, they can add a great deal of heat to any given rivalry. At the 2001 Royal Rumble, Chyna challenged the Right to Censor's Ivory for the Women's Championship. Midway through the bout, the Ninth Wonder of the World exploded across the ring with a handspring elbow but caught her neck on the turnbuckle and crumbled to the mat. She laid there unconscious for minutes as Jerry Lawler left the broadcast position to check on her. Medics rushed to the ring and the entire mood of the pay-per-view changed. And therein lies the problem with the angle. The death of Owen Hart shook the wrestling industry and forever changed the way WWE commentators presented real life news. It was with legitimate somberness that Jim Ross addressed the audience at home and, in turn, those fans trusted him to relay anything they absolutely needed to know about the health and well-being of their favorite performers. When Ross and Lawler spoke to the audience as if Chyna's injury was anything but a wrestling angle, like it was some real life tragedy the likes of the shocking and heartbreaking Hart accident, it completely tarnished the connection they had with the audience, not to mention their credibility. That WWE Creative would even ask the Hall of Fame commentary team to treat the angle that way is a disgrace and, unfortunately, a mistake they have repeated over the years.
