10 Worst WWE Tag Team Champions Ever

9. The New Age Outlaws (2014)

New Legion Of Doom
WWE

As tag partners, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn were one of the Attitude Era's defining acts. The New Age Outlaws became a huge part of D-Generation X's success, and they weren't ever far from Tag Team Title contention, holding the belts for five separate spells throughout WWE's most prosperous period.

The problem is that neither was particularly good between the ropes. They were a great team, but their popularity came primarily through their showmanship. This was acceptable in the Attitude Era, when workrate wasn't much of a concern, but it was a lot harder to take the Outlaws seriously when they returned as a set of greying, balding forty-somethings in January 2014.

The Outlaws stumbled around like a couple of drunk dads at a wedding disco for several weeks, before inexplicably defeating Cody Rhodes and Goldust for the WWE Tag Team Titles later in the month. A short but unnecessary reign at just 36 days, it saw two over-the-hill veterans hog a spotlight that rightfully belonged to younger, hungrier teams like The Usos, who wrested the belts from their clutches that March.

This was the end of the Outlaws' push: they were destroyed by The Shield at WrestleMania XXX, and didn't feature again until the following year.
