10 Worst WWE United States Champions Ever
8. Jack Swagger (2012)
2011-2012 was hardly the best period for the United States belt. The poor thing was passed around more than any other, and that made it hard for fans to give a flying toss about who was champ this week. Jack Swagger's reign was emblematic of those problems with hot-shotting, and it was totally forgettable.
After beating Zack Ryder, Swagger held the belt for 49 days. That was it.
If WWE had stuffed a few meaningful defences for Jack or even a feud to speak of in there, that might've been OK. They didn't, and so his first stint as United States Champion passed Swagger by. Not only did he beat a paper champ to win it, but Swagger actually became one himself.
Worse, he'd drop the title to another time waster WWE's writers couldn't be bothered to write anything worthwhile for. That's arguably more insulting to fans than dismissing Ryder's popularity or giving Swagger such a pointless reign.
