10 Worst WWE United States Champions Ever

8. Jack Swagger (2012)

2015 wasn't the first time that WWE tried to push Jack Swagger and convince fans that he was worth watching. As far back as 2009, Swagger was being positioned as a fledgling headliner, someone the promotion dearly hoped would catch on as a big star. In 2010, he was given a short run as World Heavyweight Champion, but was never really portrayed as a big-time champ.

The start of 2012 would provide another lacking title reign for the man, this time with the United States Title. On the 16 January 2012 edition of Monday Night Raw, Swagger bagged the belt from Zack Ryder. This was genuinely confusing for a lot of fans, who viewed Ryder as someone with more promise than the 'All-American American' chosen as his US successor. It would be an earlier entry, Santino Marella who would take the title from Swagger's grasp less than two months later in March. This led may people to wonder exactly what the point was of switching the belt from Ryder to Swagger in the first place.

It was a pointless reign, one which only featured one pay-per-view defence. At Elimination Chamber 2012, Swagger beat Justin Gabriel in just over three minutes.
