10 Worst WWE United States Champions Ever

6. The Big Show (2003)

During the introduction to this piece, it was mentioned that Eddie Guerrero won a tournament to be crowned the first ever WWE United States Champion. His superb tussle with Chris Benoit made the title feel instantly important, and there were high hopes that the belt would be taken seriously on the SmackDown brand. From there, Guerrero entered a feud against The Big Show. Less than three months after capturing the gold, Guerrero was staring at the lights for the giant at No Mercy in October. Shortly afterwards, WWE would reward the Latino star's amazing performances with the WWE Title at No Way Out in February.

Big Show was a poor choice to replace him as US Champion. At the time, fans would have much rather seen someone like Benoit or John Cena take the title. Thankfully, Cena would win the title at WrestleMania XX, but not before big Show killed time with the United States Title. The belt itself was beautifully presented, and fans were eager to treat it with importance. That was difficult to do when Show rarely defended it and it didn't really feature on pay-per-views during his title reign. Indeed, whilst US Champ, Big Show faced Kurt Angle and John Cena in a Triple Threat to determine a contender to the WWE Title for 'Mania.
