10 Worst WWE United States Champions Ever

1. Bret Hart (2010)

Bret 'Hitman' Hart is one of the greatest wrestlers who has ever stepped foot in a WWF/WWE ring. During his spell in WCW, Hart had held the United States Title, but amazingly he had another run with the revived strap over a decade later. For those in the know, Bret's life had changed dramatically between those respective title wins. By 2010, he wasn't able to take bumps, but that didn't stop him from being placed in matches.

Even though many were disappointed with the content of the match, Bret vs. Vince McMahon at WrestleMania XXVI felt like something which had to happen. That was all well and good, but it was a glaring error from the company to make Hart WWE United States Champion. At the expense of The Miz, Bret bagged the title on 17 May 2010. Miz was someone WWE hoped to become a headline heel, making this an even more silly decision. The title change seemed like it only existed to pop the live crowd in Toronto, Canada. Whilst that happened, there were people pointing out that Hart couldn't wrestle a proper match anymore. Therefore, giving him any title made little sense.

One week later, Bret vacated the belt, which was then won by R-Truth. The whole ordeal was fruitless, and in fact only damaged the reputation of the United States Title.
