7. Dolph Ziggler

While last year's Intercontinental Title feud with The Miz came close to reviving the long-suffering Dolph Ziggler's career, 2017 saw him dive right back into 'get off my television' territory.

Still an elite athlete and a great bumper, Ziggler is an unwanted presence on SmackDown's midcard, with only a minuscule fraction of his once mighty fanbase remaining. Sadly, the bookers are only partly to blame.

The 2017 version of Dolph Ziggler performers very much like a man who gave up giving a f*** several years ago. His disinterest is palpable, and it's hard to shake the feeling that he's mailing it in until his contract winds down, and he's finally free from the company's grasp. On one hand, the volume of garbage creative have dumped on him over the years makes this understandable, but he's still a professional. Ziggler should be better than this.

Booked like a dweeb throughout his feud with Kalisto and Apollo Crews, Dolph needlessly went 50/50 with Shinsuke Nakamura at Backlash, burying the newcomer's momentum. Then came the historically bad impersonation gimmick, and another go-nowhere feud with Bobby Roode. He's set to close 2017 with a United States title shot at Clash Of Champions. Fortunately, victory seems an impossibility.
