8. Braun Strowman
This one was almost a joint effort between Braun and Shane McMahon.
Their WrestleMania season feud was a reminder of what happens when WWE suddenly decides to spice things up with unwanted character lore. Did anybody really need to know (or care to know) that Strowman was a bit of a thicko at school, for example?
Also, what was up with WWE pretending that Braun was bullied during his youth? That didn't fit his unstoppable wrecking ball presentation, and it actually made him sound like a put-upon whiner after years of using his own physical size to dominate.
None of Strowman's matches, from the boring bout with Elias at Fastlane to McMahon at 'Mania and a WWE Title tilt, satisfied. Before being released in June, big Braun was going through the motions big time. The company had also clearly been running out of solid ideas for the 'Monster Among Men' since his hasty Universal Title push ended.
