WrestleMania is the biggest event in all of professional wrestling. Its often referred to as The Showcase of Immortals, or The Granddaddy of Them All, and for good reason. Eras originate and close here, and the greatest superstars define themselves by their legacy on this stage. Typically we see the biggest stars in the sport, engaging in battles over championships, personal issues or respect. Furthermore, most of these meetings are marketed as dream matches weve never seen before. Whether they were always truthful about that or not wasnt always important to WWE. In the 1980s it was commonplace for WWE to rewrite short-term history, and push the agenda exactly as they saw fit. With the lack of technology, things moved slower back then. Understandably, as time went on, rematches were unavoidable and sometimes encouraged. Nevertheless, when looking over the main events that have happened over the last 30 years, WWE did an admirable job giving us fresh matchups that have never happened on a major stage. However, the following 10 matchups, not only took place before WrestleMania, but also sometimes werent acknowledged by WWE. These contests act as great companions to the more remembered ones.
