10 WrestleMania Openers Better Than The Main Event

1. Bret Hart Vs. Owen Hart ('Mania X)

WrestleMania X is fondly remembered for a pair of unbelievably entertaining matches.

Firstly, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon had an excellent Ladder Match for the WWF Intercontinental Title. And Bret Hart faced his younger brother Owen in one of the best openers in 'Mania, or WWE PPV, history.

By the end of the night, Bret would stand atop the mountain, having defeated Yokozuna to once again become WWF Heavyweight Champion. That was the lingering visual from the pay-per-view, but the truth is that Bret worked far better with his sibling than he did his oversized opponent in the main event.

This was a match both Hart brothers must have been dreaming about having, and they delivered big style on wrestling's largest platform. Even Vince McMahon, who was on commentary duty, seemed surprised by how much the Madison Square Garden crowd were sucked into the action.

People really became invested in the storyline split between Owen and Bret and it held over to their big grudge match.

It didn't hurt that the wrestling itself was of the highest standard. Smoothly switching from hold-to-hold, the Hart siblings took their time and enjoyed sharing the spotlight. The Hart boys put on a clinic in the opener and there was no way even Bret himself could top this one later on in the show.
