10 Wrestler Deaths That Were Sick Internet Hoaxes

10. Mick Foley

The 'Hardcore Legend' Mick Foley regularly finished his matches in WWE covered in blood and bits of his own body. He disfigured his own ear in one match and famously made a real mess of his face in a clash with Undertaker inside the Hell in a Cell structure at King of the Ring 1998. That match famously led Terry Funk, and indeed the Undertaker himself, to believe that Foley may actually have died from a fall through the steel. With his reputation for carnage, it is perhaps unsurprising that Foley has been subject to death rumours online. News of Foley's apparent death appeared on a discussion forum for prominent myth-debunking website Snopes in February 2003. One poster claimed that a friend had spotted the announcement of Foley's demise on the CNN rolling news ticker. Few people were fooled, but the news hit a raw nerve only a week after the genuinely tragic loss of 'Mr Perfect' Curt Hennig, It didn't take long for Snopes users to point out there was no confirmation of the rumour elsewhere online and it was soon forgotten.
