10 Wrestlers AEW Failed In 2022

5. Serena Deeb

AEW Failed CM Punk
AEW

Granted, Serena Deeb may be the veteran performer who helps to train and give advice to the young stars of tomorrow, but it's borderline criminal not to have featured the former NWA Women's Champion on AEW TV on a more consistent basis across this past year.

When looking across the female roster, Deeb is hands-down the best in-ring talent in the AEW women's division. The Professor absolutely lives up to her nickname each and every time she steps between the ropes, and Serena's style and technique brings legitimacy to everything that she does.

The beginning of 2022 started off promising for Serena, with her Professor's Five Minute Rookie Challenge being a welcome part of AEW programming, before she then began feuding with the brilliant Hikaru Shida. Once that Shida rivalry was wrapped up, though, it's been an incredibly stop-start year for Deeb.

Utilising the Virginia native's experience and ability, Tony Khan has wheeled her out for a few singles TV matches where a top name has needed someone to put on a decent match with - be that Thunder Rosa, Toni Storm or even Mercedes Martinez at Death Before Dishonor - but the vast majority of the second half of the year has seen Deeb working multi-women tags or stuck on Dark and Dark: Elevation.
