"It's STIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING"

Sting's career has been one of defying expectations. Whenever you think you know what he'll do next, he does the opposite.

He defied the NWO in WCW and fought against them single handed. Then, after WCW closed, he turned WWE down and opted to go elsewhere, eventually finding a home in TNA. After things dried up there, he made the unexpected choice to finally sign with McMahon's promotion after eluding them for so many years.

That is a lot of unexpected moves, but there was one more left in him, as AEW also got a piece of the pie.

After retiring from in-ring action in 2016 due to injury, wrestling fans never expected to see The Stinger step into a ring again. However, he would do so four years later after appearing out of nowhere at the inaugural Winter is Coming event, and, oh boy, it was exciting!

Sting's incredible arrival to the promotion is still remembered fondly and not just for Tony Schiavone's tremendous reaction. It was a shock no-one saw coming, and his time in the company has led to many great matches and mentorship for younger stars, especially Darby Allin.
