10 Wrestlers Buried By Triple H

7. Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam could've been a real game-changer for WWE. He had everything you could ever want in a potential star. While he was never at the level of someone like The Rock on the microphone, he didn't need to be because he had a personality that endeared him to fans worldwide. He started to work his way to the top of the card in the fall of 2002 and eventually received a World Heavyweight Title shot against Triple H. As soon as the match was scheduled, Triple H began a systematic burial of RVD's prior accomplishments in wrestling. He also did everything possible to make Van Dam look like an unworthy challenger. Kind of counterproductive, don't you think? Still, come match time many expected this to finally be RVD's time to shine in WWE. Surely after having been disparaged with such frequency in the build-up he would be able to exact revenge by winning the World Title? Of course not. Instead Triple H beat RVD handily and sent him back to the midcard, derailing his momentum with one needless victory. Van Dam never reached his true potential in WWE, and his program with Triple H in late-2002 is a big reason why. It's hard to make fans believe in someone when he's constantly belittled leading up to a big match and then gets beaten in the end anyway.
