7. Stone Cold Steve Austin Recovers From Night At Hospital At WrestleMania 19
"Damn, I think I'm dying, dying for sure [...] I'm having a damn heart attack," Steve Austin surmises about the situation he found himself in just 24 hours before WrestleMania 19. Writing in his autobiography, the Rattlesnake details how he suffered a tight chest in addition to shaking limbs. His blood pressure was way out of whack and he ended up being put in hospital overnight. Whether this was an actual mini heart attack or a major panic attack is unconfirmed. What we do know for sure, is that the day before wrestling an epic match against The Rock, Austin was wired up to a string of hospital monitors. The WWE were in a tough position. Rock vs Austin was scheduled to close the show, it was a heavily promoted match and many fans were paying to see it. The Rattlesnake ended up coming through for McMahon, saying he was well enough to work the match, although all common sense would've said he wasn't. The decision was made to relegate the contest to a lower position on the card, to try and take some pressure off the situation. Austin then went out in front of 54,000 fans and put on what some call the best Austin vs Rock match out of the lot of them. It's pretty crazy to think that the action went down just fifteen hours after Austin left the hospital with what was a suspected heart attack. He hasn't wrestled since.
