10 Wrestlers Having An AMAZING 2023 (… That Nobody Is Talking About)

8. Giulia

Braun Strowman Ricochet
STARDOM

STARDOM may not be on top of every wrestling fan's watchlist, but Giulia should be. She's long been a guide for newer Joshi watchers, encapsulating the sort of fervid underdog avatar that made Sami Zayn and Daniel Bryan, in WWE, the crown jewels of sports entertainment; indeed, Giulia became the crown jewels of Joshi as she toppled esteemed antagonist Syuri for the World of Stardom title in a late contender for match of the year in 2022, ending the prolific kicker's year-long tyranny over STARDOM.

Entering 2023 with her first singles title in almost two years, Giulia adapted to the role of figurehead ardently. Defences against Suzu Suzuki and Maya Yukihi saw her appear obstinate, hammering both challengers in exhausting epics that put across her conformability as a champion and displayed flickers of her as a promotional leader in her brief, yet enjoyable 115-day reign, breaking the red belt's track record of archetypal year-long title runs.

Although her loss of the title may have been inopportune, given the three-year arc Giulia had embarked on prior to her ascendancy, she dropped the title to Tam Nakano in the pair's sixth agonising contest together, itself the next phase of Tam's period of oppression. At just 29-years-old, though, Giulia has imparted her legacy into STARDOM lore as a divergent workhorse whose narrative has shaped itself organically on a groundwork of validity and legitimacy.
