10 Wrestlers Having An AMAZING 2023 (… That Nobody Is Talking About)

6. Trey Miguel

IMPACT Wrestling

Public disregard for IMPACT Wrestling means Trey Miguel is among the ultra-talented to have rarely received justified recognition from a wider wrestling circle. It's almost a niche of a niche in its current state, the recent arrival of Trinity seemingly beginning the process of improving this - but until then, Trey is neglected. Severely.

He's more than a champion in his current stint as X Division Champion. He's a protector, a gatekeeper, a warrior; he embodies the fighting spirit oft-associated with the Anthem-fronted organisation better than most of his peers. Turning heel shortly after lifting the title allowed Trey to carry out a better self-exploration from his first run as champion, and now rarely is a Trey Miguel match anything less than great.

His Rebellion encounter vs. Mike Bailey and Jonathan Gresham is perhaps the most compelling argument in favour of this. Bailey and Gresham are decorously absent from this list. Their work continuously does the rounds amongst social media circles, Bailey's more than Gresham's nowadays, but the introduction of Trey Miguel into this already-exultant technical wrestling chronicle allowed the match to be befitting of a modernised X Division classic, combining an array of styles into one fourteen-minute classic.

A change of scenery may profit Miguel once he's dropped the spraypainted X Division title with little left to accomplish in IMPACT, but there isn't an organisation that wouldn't benefit from having Trey on their payroll.
