It's pretty easy to chart Austin Theory's downfall as an ongoing WWE concern back to Vince McMahon's retirement. Triple H just... doesn't seem to be as interested in pushing him as a top guy or successfully cashing in that briefcase, which means ol' Austin could go down in history as a MITB cash-in loser.
Bummer.
Scan social media and you'll see oodles of comments that blast Theory for being an overrated pet project who was never going to be a success anyway. Erm, what? Austin was fast becoming an independent wrestling darling in companies like EVOLVE before inking a WWE deal in 2019. Has that been forgotten because it's convenient?
Some grappling fans do this; they see a young star rapidly gain traction then try to shoot them down, for whatever reason. It's like they're saying: 'Yeah, we want you to push him when we say you've to push him', and that's plain childish behaviour.
