10 Wrestlers That Lost Titles Due To Serious Contract Disputes
7. Tessa Blanchard (IMPACT World Championship)
In June 2020, IMPACT wrestling confirmed its relationship with its World Champion, Tessa Blanchard, had come to an end.
It was a surprise to many, given how much time and focus IMPACT had invested in Tessa in her two-year run with the company. She exceeded all expectations and broke boundaries by becoming the first female wrestler to win a major World title when she defeated Sami Callihan at Hard To Kill to become Impact World Champion.
But the relationship between IMPACT and Tessa soured severely after that. She last appeared for the company in March that year and refused to return to TV in pre-taped promos after the two parties couldn’t agree to terms on a new contract. IMPACT tried to get her to return for one match to drop the title to Eddie Edwards at Slammiversary in July, but Tessa rejected the idea.
Compounded with the recent allegations directed at her of bullying and racism behind the scenes (which she strongly denied), IMPACT officials washed their hands with her and stripped her of the title.
