10 Wrestlers That Only Seemed Cool When You Were A Kid

6. Koko B. Ware

Koko B. Ware is, by all accounts, a wrestling legend. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009 after a prolific career that included stints in various territories and promotions. Mostly though, he€™s remembered for coming out to the ring with a parrot. And he was loved for this. Seriously, go back and watch some of your old WWF tapes or fire up the WWE Network if you€™ve got it. When it was time for Koko and his pet macaw Frankie to shine, the kids in the crowd would lose their freakin€™ mind.

Lots of wrestlers incorporated animals into their act in hopes of getting over but, arguably, this formula worked best for Koko. Sure, Jake Roberts€™ pet snake Damien played a big part in making his character so memorable, but he also had amazing promos and solid in-ring work. Koko, on the other hand, was pretty much all about that bird and colorful outfits. Also, he could sing, which made him a perfect fit for the era of Rock n€™ Wrestling.

To this day, however, I€™m sure more people can remember the name of that bird then can his finishing move. (Surprise! It was called the Bird Buster. Bust out that piece of trivia to impress your friends€ whichever friends would care enough, that is).

I am a writer and stand-up comedian living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I didn't witness the Bret Hart screw job in person, but I did watch the Breaking Point PPV live and that was terrible it its own way. I am dangerously obsessed with professional wrestling and its surrounding culture. I am the current ring announcer for a local fed called the IWS. I got to introduce Tommy Dreamer a while back. My head almost exploded. I am a mark, and proud of it. I also co-host a podcast called Go Plug Yourself, which has featured quite a few local wrestlers and even Mick Foley. Speaking of the Mickster, I once got to be his warmup act when he was in town for comiccon. My head actually exploded that time. I've recovered... sort of.
