10 Wrestlers Who Achieved The Impossible

8. Kane: Monster Of Two Decades

The old Undertaker Vs. Monster Of The Week formula played out as follows: a freak show attraction, a Kamala, a Giant Gonzalez, a King Kong Bundy, was drafted into the fold specifically to stare at the lights for the Dead Man. Pushed and subsequently defeated, the monster was slain before he outstayed his welcome. It is a testament to 'Taker's aura that he made the whole thing work; though formulated well, the variables were often abysmal.

Kane was another such monster, destined to shuffle off his mortal coil, storyline murdered by 'Taker like his mother and father before him. That was until Vince McMahon fell in love with the character. Unlike Kane's marriage to Lita, this took. Kane remains on television almost 20 years later, which is astonishing, really.

During which time, he has:

Learned to talk; set himself on fire; unmasked; wrestled the Undertaker more times than he has used pyro in his entrance; courted several love interests, some alive, some not so much; set other people on fire; electrocuted a pair of testicles; joined several strange bedfellows tag teams...

Kane has done it all, with the exception of wrestling a classic singles match.

Even those who subjectively are not fond of the objective smash success of a character cannot deny at least one of his contributions to WWE, his home for well over half of Vince McMahon's tenure at the helm.
