Another of the saddest wrestling tales of the last 20 years is that of Darren Drozdov. A former NFL nose tackle for the Denver Broncos, the man who would become Puke in the WWF was a genuine athlete prior to entering the wrestling business.

After a brief spell in ECW to hone his craft, Droz graduated to the big leagues and was given the dream start when he was introduced as the unofficial third member of the legendary Legion of Doom tandem.

Alongside Animal and Hawk, Droz was depicted as an interfering party, looking to muscle his way into the group at Hawk's expense. Although controversial for its focus on Hawk's real-life issues, the angle looked set to elevate Droz further, as he was eventually given his own stable of oddballs.

Tragically, Droz's career was cut short as a result of a running powerbomb gone horribly wrong. During a bout with D'Lo Brown on SmackDown in October '99, Droz landed on his head, seemingly making him a quadriplegic for the rest of his life.

Droz has since gained movement in his arms and neck, however, he is still confined to a wheelchair - and obviously looks drastically different to his in-ring days.

Occasional wrestler, full-time gym rat and lifelong lover of the grapple game. Would probably buy you a shot of Jack at the bar in exchange for witty banter...and preferably more Jack. @MartynGrant88 for more wrestling-related musings and weight room wisecracks!
