10 Wrestlers Who Are Almost Unrecognisable Since They Retired
5. Mikey Whipwreck
Mikey Whipwreck was a huge part of the early days of ECW; however, with a little extra weight and a lot less hair, Whipwreck today is hard to recognise.
As the t-shirt wearing punching bag to the stars, Whipwreck became the lovable underdog of the ECW roster. At just 22, Whipwreck even became the youngest ECW Champion in company history. The notoriety and success achieved in ECW even saw him have a brief run in WCW in 1999, but the ECW original made his way back to 'The Land of Extreme' that same year.
Shortly before ECW closed its doors, Whipwreck was tagging with Yoshihiro Tajiri under the tag name The Unholy Alliance. Sporting a wild red haircut and guided by The Sinister Minister, the two even became ECW World Tag Team Champions.
When ECW ceased to be, Whipwreck popped up on a number of occasions throughout the next decade, notably appearing in TNA for a one-shot in 2004 and at both ECW reunion shows, Hardcore Homecoming and One Night Stand, in 2005.
Meanwhile, Whipwreck also went on to become a trainer of today's stars, having developed Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Tony Nese and Jay Lethal, among others.
