The chances of Tommaso Ciampa returning from his latest injury setback as The Miz's right hand man, especially with long-time NXT pal Johnny Gargano now calling Monday Night Raw home, do appear to growing slimmer by the week.

But even if Blackheart finally distances himself from The Awesome One upon returning to the main roster, it still won't change the fact that his casting alongside the two-time Grand Slam Champion was odd out of the gates and proceeded to get stranger from there on out.

Having the former NXT Champion act as little more than a scrappy sidekick to a star he claimed could get the eyes of the world on him, Ciampa's showings on the red show after making his call-up to the "big leagues" official not only didn't click with those who had spent the last few years watching him dominate the black and gold brand, but those who didn't have the slightest clue who the bearded baddy was either.

He did at least offer a few flickers of the badass veteran persona still lying in wait recently before his perhaps blessing in disguise injury. So, here's hoping the former D.I.Y. man opts to get the band back together or at the very least cuts all ties with his bright-green "Awesome" Scrappy-Doo character once he's fit and healthy again.
