10 Wrestlers Who Could Win Their First World Title In 2021

1. Hangman Page

Big E WWE Champion
AEW

Hangman Page is going to win the AEW World Championship. Nobody doubts that, right? The Hangman has been a certain thing from the moment the promotion was announced, and those initial teething problems were soon overcome in a blur of alcohol and good old fashioned cowboy sh*t. Before the pandemic put a stop to all momentum, Page was well on his way to becoming the hottest babyface in professional wrestling.

In many ways, Kenny Omega's rise to the AEW World Championship is as much to do with Page as it is The Cleaner. Omega will surely have a long and fruitful run as champion, but it simply has to end with a Buckshot Lariat and Hangman as champion. Omega is more than talented enough to conjure up a curious title reign with a predictable ending, and AEW would be foolish to abandon the coronation of Page for the sake of subverting the obvious.

2021 should be the year that Hangman Page finally overcomes his crippling self-doubt and potential dependence on fan-provided alcohol to climb that most marvellous of mountains. The AEW World Championship will be his eventually, it is merely a matter of time.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
