7. Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin has been drifting in and out of SmackDown’s main event circle for about a month now. The Lone Wolf has looked strong in his battles with the likes of John Cena, and ended 2016 as one of WWE’s most improved wrestlers. Corbin brings an eye-catching moveset and a compelling bully character to the table, and has shown more improvement in the past six months than he did throughout the entirety of his NXT run. His push is just around the corner, and now is the time to start.

Corbin spent over 30 minutes in the Royal Rumble, but he was largely inactive for much of that time. Still, it took The Undertaker to eliminate him, and Corbin had the honour of ending Braun Strowman’s dominant run through the match. Eliminating one of the match’s standout performers gives Corbin a huge rub coming out of the event, and he’ll be involved in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship later this month.

There are now rumours of a potential Corbin vs. Cena match at WrestleMania, and that could be exactly what Baron needs to take him to the next level. There are still some aspects of his performance that need improving, but he’ll be a major star if he continues on his currently level of improvement. Look for Corbin to make some major waves in the next few weeks, and put forth a good showing inside the Chamber.
