10 Wrestlers Who Destroyed Their Careers On Live TV

4. Buff Bagwell - Monday Night Raw, July 2nd 2001

There’s a reason Vince McMahon still stubbornly rebukes his audience, regardless of the boos they shower upon a supposed top babyface or disinterest they have for his major angles. That reason is Buff Bagwell.

Flippancy aside (there are reasons too quantifiable for ANY list of 10 as to why mad billionaire Vince McMahon does the weird and troubling things he does with his wrestling show), Bagwell was a gamble of a hire in 2001 almost entirely due to weird Emperor Caesar game Vince McMahon played with the Raw crowd the night he purchased WCW.

Asking for boos or cheers as he raised his thumb to the sky and floor (he couldn’t even book his own psycho-sexual power moves correctly), he noted with surprise the cheers that went out for ‘The Stuff’ as he listed off some of the Nitro regulars and gave him a go in the ill-fated WCW Raw event the following June.

A match with Booker T was doomed to failure before the bell rang, but the two profoundly failed to win over a hostile crowd. Buff's relations weren't any better with those in the locker room either - he was booted in something of a statement sacking just days later.
