10 Wrestlers Who Didn't Fit The Belt
4. Samoa Joe - TNA Tag Team Championship
The Oxford English Dictionary defines 'tag-team' as 'A pair of wrestlers who fight as a team', yet somehow Samoa Joe managed to be tag-team champion all by himself. Sure, he practically weighs the same as two Hornswoggles, but they probably wouldn't make a good tag team either. You could also argue that he is as good as two wrestlers; having been putting on great matches for years now and arguably being one of the best wrestlers in the business today. But regardless of how good he is, one Samoa Joe does not constitute a tag team.
Nevertheless, at Victory Road 2007, X-Division Champion Samoa Joe and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle took on TNA Tag Team Champions Team-3D, the stipulation being that whichever man got the pinfall would win the belts for themselves. Ultimately, Joe pinned Brother Ray to win the tag belts, making him the first wrestler to hold two TNA Championships at once. However, Joe decided not to find a tag team partner and kept all the belts for himself.
He eventually lost the tag team belts, as well as his X-Division Championship to Kurt Angle less than a month later at Hard Justice. Angle too would hold the tag-team belts by himself, but at least this time the powers that be saw fit to hold a tournament to get him a partner, which eventually turned out to be Sting.
That said, allowing a single man to be the tag-team champions is far from the most nonsensical thing TNA has done with their titles, it isn't even the most questionable on this list.
