10 Wrestlers Who Didn't Get The Reaction They Wanted
4. Batista Booed For Not Being Daniel Bryan
Here's a promise, to those of you unable to reconcile AEW's critical reception despite New Japan Pro Wrestling's recent, heartbreaking rejection in those circles. If and when AEW begins to flounder, and effectively tell its audience to f*ck off, people will tell them to f*ck off right back. The very initials 'NJPW' do not guarantee a positive review. The company is drawing negative reviews in 2021. Bad product = bad feedback to product. There are unhinged stans everywhere. But broadly, this is all true.
Promise.
WCW didn't go out of business because Dave Meltzer thought the product was sh*t in 1999; WCW went out of business because the product was sh*t in 1999.
WWE won't go out of business - the monopoly and the content landscape is such that it can only fail upwards - but the product is sh*t in 2021. And even when it isn't - Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns are awesome in their respective roles - everything is tinged with a certain unease informed by the fact that this company has been telling its audience to f*ck off for almost a full decade. We are literally months away from the anniversary of the first f*ck off, that being the follow-up to CM Punk's Pipebomb promo.
Three years later, you were told to f*ck off for liking the explosive and humble Daniel Bryan when WWE put the wheezing and entitled Batista in his spot. The people told WWE to f*ck off right back by booing him out of Pittsburgh.
Because that's how it f*cking works.
