10 Wrestlers Who Don’t Need WWE Or AEW

8. Jonathan Gresham

It looked like pro wrestling powerhouse Jonathan Gresham would land a regular spot on AEW's roster by way of ROH when he started showing up on All Elite programming earlier this year. The then-ROH World Champ seemed like the perfect fit for Tony Khan's league, but things didn't work out.

Gresham requested his release a few hours before dropping the belt to Claudio Castagnoli at Death Before Dishonor in July, and that was very much that. Unless Triple H or Shawn Michaels shows any interest in an NXT-into-main roster run for the hard-working 17-year pro, then he has Japan written all over him soon.

For now, Jonathan is accepting indy bookings.

He must be doing alright for himself if he's willing to forgo a run on AEW's midcard. Perhaps Gresham didn't like how the ROH brand was being treated, or maybe he just thought the roster was too stacked to make an impression - either way, he's back on the independents.
