10 Wrestlers Who DOUBLED DOWN On Legendary Title Reigns

8. Josh Alexander

The transformation of Josh Alexander from a solid tag team hand to a legitimate world-class headliner was a captivating piece of booking from IMPACT Wrestling. Alexander transcended the promotion's doubles division as a two-time World Tag Team Champion, the first reign of which was the company's longest ever (380 days).

When Ethan Page departed for newer, elite pastures, though, Alexander proved any doubters wrong immediately by working a ★★★★ pre-show bout vs. Brian Myers. He was going to thrive as a singles act, and thrive he did.

Josh's 336-day stint as World Champion - again the longest in IMPACT's 21-year history - was so seminal that his 145-day run as X Division Champion goes oft-neglected. Alexander proved himself to be a contender for IMPACT's Ace as, exhibiting the skills necessary to organically switch from an X Division gatekeeper to a full-time main eventer, he embodied a trait not seen in IMPACT since the days of AJ Styles.

Bouts from both reigns against Chris Sabin, Jake Something, Tomohiro Ishii, Eddie Edwards, and Mike Bailey are all worth checking out. Alexander was an authentic travelling champion, too, reiterating IMPACT's top prize as exactly what it is; a World Championship. Defences in Canada and England helped put IMPACT's brand back on the world map throughout what was a genuine Hall of Fame-worthy title reign.
